The 1st day:
As we arrived to the hostel we took our bags and suitcases to a special room only for the guests of the hotel. A few minutes later, we all were sitting in the bus driving to the school, to cook with the Slovenian students.
At the school we changed to our special cooking clothes and had to split up in different groups with the Slovenians. During that we got to know each other a little bit, so the next the was not that awkward. We made 2 hot dishes together, lamb with sauce and a self-made pasta filled with potatoes. We also mixed some cocktails, a mojito and an aperitif. For dessert we did also make some kind of strudel, but with layers and mixed fillings, like poppy, nuts and curd. Everything was delicious, but different from the typical Austrian dishes.
As we saw our hostel, we were a little bit surprised by how close we were to the center. Everything was only a 5-10 minute walk.
The 2nd day:
On our second day we went to see the Fonda fish farming on the border of Slovenia. During the boat trip a guy from Fonda was telling us some interesting stories about how, why and when they started the business. After that we went to see the Salinen and also got a tour about how they make salt the old traditional way. Our next program was the city of Piran. The 4 of us from the B class went eating with two very nice Slovenian girls and spent the rest of our time with them. We understood each other very well, even though there were sometimes some language barriers. They showed us around in the city and took us to a spot where we can take beautiful pictures of the sea and the sunset. We also were sitting close to each other on the bus and spent almost the whole time talking or singing some songs. We really liked Piran and took a lot of awesome pictures there.
The 3rd day:
Our last day in Slovenia. We were already sad from the second we woke up, till the goodbye. After breakfast we had to take our things to the same room, as on the day we arrived. We went for a city tour with sightseeing and also to a market with a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits. We walked up to the castle of Ljubljana. The view there was beautiful, we saw whole Ljubljana from that height. We went back to the city, but without our Slovenian friends to eat lunch. About an hour later we went back to the bus and were all ready to go home.
We both liked Slovenia very much, even though the weather was a little bit cold and windy. I think we would visit another time too. The pupils were very kind to us and helped us every time we asked them to. All in all, it was a very nice experience 🙂
